A Call to Humanity: Demand Safety, Demand Justice, Demand Change

No Instagram stories, no casual conversations with colleagues, friends, family, or neighbors — nothing is going to bring a change.

The suffering inflicted on women is not just a statistic — it is a searing reality that demands urgent action. What can I do, and what can you do, to stop this inhuman torture? How can we ensure that no woman endures such unimaginable pain again? What steps can we take at an individual level to protect women?

I have a 14-year-old niece, and the thought of her being in any danger terrifies me. It breaks my heart to think of the countless women and girls across the country who live in fear, let alone hear about their suffering. I feel ashamed to share the same nationality with those who commit such barbaric acts. What happened in Kolkata is a horrifying reminder of the deep-rooted issues we face as a society. And it’s not just one city — this brutality is spreading across the nation. Are women truly safe anywhere?

How can we fight for equality when our very right to live in safety is under threat? This is not just about justice; it’s about humanity.
